My laptop is from 2008.) If I wanted to listen to music, I tended to just YouTube it and watch the videos or have songs that I selected playing in the background. (I am really not that technologically advanced. That isn’t because I didn’t want it to happen in so much as I didn’t have a place to go and listen to music. I went with this song though because the lines of the breeze and feeling satisfied are perfect descriptions for the serenity of just existing on a porch for a while.I’ve read from others about how the gods or spirits or whomever can play around with the shuffle features on various iPods and radio lists. I had to include a song off of Yola’s album Walk Through Fire because the entire thing has the perfect vibes for this list. Memorable lyrics: “Got my heart strings tangled / Got those eyes that’ll bring you to your knees / It’s her smile like Sundays” Plus, it’s Muscadine Bloodline, so it’s very good. “Porch Swing Angel” by Muscadine BloodlineĬome on… this song is about relaxing on a porch, and this is an article about relaxing on the porch. Memorable lyrics: “My lady doesn’t get it / It appeals to the ramblin’ bandit in me” It’s the perfect time for reflection and calm. And honestly, who doesn’t do some good ol’ daydreaming while sitting on the porch? It’s about dreaming and imagining yourself in a western movie. This song is a big nostalgia fest for me, and I will always love it for that. Memorable lyrics: “Goddess in my Days Inn pen, the muse I ain’t refusin’ / The part of me that ain’t around I’m always talking to” And honestly, it makes me happy and that’s the only real criteria here. Now, I’ll admit this song is about a different type of relaxation, but I think it has the same idea. There’s something beautifully simple yet complex about his lyrics that remind me of looking at nature. Tyler Childers has a whole has such porch-sitting vibes to me. Memorable lyrics: “So I wrapped a bow around my heart and placed it in a box of cherry wood / I asked her if she could take that box and it good.” The extended metaphor is gorgeous, and as someone who was raised near a bunch of strawberry fields, this song will always have a special place in my heart. The song itself is a really sweet love song about a man who falls in love with a woman he sees as royalty. I can totally picture listening to this song on a porch, gazing out at a strawberry field. I think it’s because “Strawberry Queen” gives me the same feel-good vibes. This song was definitely my first thought even though it is very different than the Travis Tritt song. Here are five of my favorites! “Strawberry Queen” by Charles Wesley Godwin I’ll admit this song is starting to get some age on it, so I wanted to find some new contenders for the best porch-sitting song. If The Andy Griffith Show was made today, I’m certain Andy would play this song on his guitar for Opie and Aunt Bee. I mean, try to tell me this song isn’t the perfect song for porch-sitting. The lyrics are about appreciating all of the little things that are going right in life even if other, bigger things are stressful: It’s the perfect good vibes, feel-good song. The first one that came to mind was “It’s a Great Day to be Alive” because… duh. Of course, this means that I have been thinking about songs that are perfect for mornings sitting on the balcony with a cup of coffee. It closet thing I’ve had to a porch in a long time.

Having a second-floor window and balcony means that I can now open my blinds or sit outside in peace. Now, neither of those things really sound like a porch, but for the last three years, I’ve lived in a dorm in which my only window was to a hallway where lots of people would walk by. So, I recently moved into a new apartment with a big window in my room and a screened in balcony.
